The Real Deal in Liverpool's City Centre
Shenanigans, a proper Irish bar in the heart of Liverpool's business district where you'll find the city's best Guinness, legendary breakfasts, and the kind of warm welcome that makes strangers feel like regulars within minutes.
When they first came to us in 2017, the challenge was obvious: how do you capture that authentic pub atmosphere in a website? Most bar websites end up looking like everyone else's - generic photos of drinks, corporate descriptions of "atmosphere," and the same tired promises about "great service." Shenanigans needed something that actually represented what happens when you walk through their doors.
Celebrating Authenticity
We built the website around what actually makes Shenanigans stand out. Their Guinness really is exceptional, ask any regular and they'll tell you exactly why it's the best pint in the city. The breakfast menu has developed such a following that people genuinely plan their weekend mornings around it.
Instead of trying to make everything sound polished and perfect, we focused on what actually happens there. The breakfast crowd knows to arrive early because word has spread. The sports fans know which seats give the best view of the screens. The cocktail regulars have their favourites, and they're usually happy to warn newcomers about which drinks require a taxi home.
Growing Without Losing the Plot
What's been great about working with Shenanigans over the years is watching them expand their offerings while staying completely true to what they are. When they came back for updates, it wasn't because they wanted to rebrand or chase trends, it was because they had new things worth talking about.
The coffee range got better, so we made sure people knew about it. The event capabilities expanded, so we improved how the function room and rooftop bookings worked. The sports viewing setup got even more impressive, so we made sure that came through clearly.
Each time we've worked together, it's been about making the website more useful rather than more flashy. The 3D tour feature lets people actually see the space before they arrive. The menu presentation makes it easy to see why the breakfast has such a reputation.
Why It Works
The Shenanigans website succeeds because it doesn't try to be something it's not. It's straightforward, welcoming, and full of the same character you'll find when you actually visit. People know what to expect before they arrive, which means they're usually delighted rather than disappointed.
This honest approach has supported their growth as one of Liverpool's busiest independent venues. The website helps newcomers understand what they're about while giving regulars easy access to events and special offers. Most importantly, it represents the experience people actually have rather than some idealised version that doesn't exist.
We're currently in the process of helping Shenanigans transition to Odoo ERP to better manage their event bookings and inventory across their busy operations.
