From Local Florist to Digital Success Story

When Silky Bouquets first approached us in 2013, they were an established Liverpool florist facing the challenge that many local businesses encounter: how to compete effectively in an increasingly digital marketplace. While they had built a strong reputation through word-of-mouth and repeat customers in the local area, they recognised that potential clients were increasingly searching online for florists, and their limited digital presence was costing them opportunities.

Understanding the Business

Our discovery process revealed several key challenges. As a creative business, Silky Bouquets needed to showcase their work visually while also communicating their expertise in different types of arrangements, from wedding bouquets to corporate events. They were competing not just with other local florists, but with larger online flower delivery services that dominated search results.

We spent time understanding their workflow, from initial customer consultations through design and delivery. This revealed that much of their business came from personal recommendations and that their strength lay in custom work and personal service, qualities that needed to come through in their digital presence.

The Initial Solution

The first website focused on establishing Silky Bouquets as Liverpool's premium florist choice. We created a gallery-focused design that let their beautiful arrangements speak for themselves, while incorporating clear calls-to-action for consultations and quotes. The content strategy emphasised their local expertise and personal service, helping them compete against larger, impersonal competitors.

We implemented a mobile-first approach, recognising that many potential customers would be browsing on their phones, perhaps while planning events or looking for last-minute arrangements. The contact forms were optimised for quick inquiries, and we included clear information about their service areas and delivery options.

The Evolution

What happened over the following years demonstrated the value of viewing websites as living, evolving platforms rather than static brochures. Silky Bouquets' business grew and changed; they expanded their event services, developed new product lines, and their customer base evolved. By the time they approached us for a redesign, their original website, while still functional, no longer reflected the sophisticated business they had become.

The redesign process was more collaborative than the original project because we now had years of data about how customers actually used their website. We analysed which pages were most popular, where visitors were dropping off, and what types of inquiries generated the most business. This data-driven approach allowed us to create a more targeted user experience.

We restructured the navigation to better reflect their service categories, enhanced the portfolio presentation to showcase their growth in event work, and improved the quote request process based on feedback from both customers and staff. The new design maintained the elegant, professional feel that had worked well while incorporating modern functionality and improved performance.

Results and Partnership Value

Our long-term relationship with Silky Bouquets demonstrates something important about digital transformation: it's not a one-time project but an ongoing process. A company's willingness to reinvest in their digital presence and technological capabilities is essential for success in today's rapidly changing business landscape.

The redesigned website better serves their current customer base while positioning them for continued growth. More importantly, the trust built over years of working together means we understand their business deeply and can provide strategic advice that goes beyond just web development.

We're currently in the process of helping Silky Bouquets transition to Odoo ERP to further streamline their operations and support their continued growth.
